This week's thing is actually something I already have - a Vision account. While I don't use it as much as I should, I do like having the shelves to keep track of book I have read. What I do use more is my Goodreads app. Whenever I read a magzine review of a book that looks interesting, I will add it to my reading list. I know I could do the same thing with my Vision account, but for some reason I find the Goodreads one much easier. Maybe because I needed my library card number to start with Vision and it wasn't readily accessible whereas Goodreads didn't need anything. At any rate, I will try downloading the Biblio App and see how it goes. Stay tuned...
We had out book club meeting today. They had the book 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. Personally, I liked the book, although it is not my favorite by him (The Truth About Us, awesome!). The group review was split on this book. As I expected, most of the younger members did not enjoy it while the older ones did. I think for the youngers girls, the topic was a bit too hard to deal with. As one said, "I don't mind murder and killing, as long as they aren't doing it to themselves." None the less, we did have a good discussion and eneded with a Thumbs Up review overall.

To Tweet or not to Tweet
So the next Thing on our list of 23 Things is Twitter. I have to admit, I have been curious about Twitter for some time. Express yourself in 140 characters or less? Really?? But again, I'm always willing to try something new and expand on my tech competency.
Truth be told, I think I might enjoy Twitter. It gets right down to the basics with no added fluff. In this time-pressed world, I like that idea.
I did say that I would use this blog for teen books though. Our Speed Readers book club is meeting next Friday and I am (as always) curious to hear their thoughts on the latest book I gave them: 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. I am a bit nervous when I give a book with a more mature theme like this one, mainly because of this age group. You never know how they will react to a sensitive topic like suicide, but hopefully it will lead to an engaging conversation. Stay tuned :)

So I am told there are some things we must learn in order to keep up with the world. While I am very much an "old school" personality (ie. an old lady, to teh kids at our school), I am always up for a challenge. And for me, anything technological is a challenge. If it is not very user friendly, with directions spelled in detail, I am lost. But here goes... My first attempt at blogging.
I think the worst part really is trying to come up with an idea of what to blog about. I suppose it should be what I am interested in, but between work and a very busy family, there isn't much time left for hobbies. However, I do have one small obsession, and it's a good thing I work in a library to support it. I am quite fascinated with young adult literature (aka books for teens). So much so that I have started a teen book club at our library. We meet every three weeks and discuss a book we have all read. Sometimes it is a book I suggests, sometimes it is a book they suggest, sometimes it is a book that only one person has read but is just so excited about it they have to share. Which is the best part really, when you see a teen who is passionate about reading and not video games.
So maybe that is what I will use this space for, to tell you what has worked, and what hasn't, with our little book club. And maybe along the way, this experience will help me out of my comfort zone when it comes to technology. It could happen...
